Crowns

If your tooth has broken or has been damaged by decay, you can benefit from a bespoke dental crown – made to look and feel just like your natural tooth.

At Cygnet House Dental Studio our director, Mitchell is also a qualified dental technician and spent the first 6 years of his career making crowns and bridges so he is fastidious about the quality of crowns we provide. We only use high quality dental laboratories to make beautiful, custom made crowns to restore your dental health. Crowns are used to strengthen and support damaged or weakened teeth. They can also, sometimes, be used to support a dental bridge.

A crown (also known as a cap) is applied directly to the natural tooth and can be made from metal alloys, porcelain, or all-resin. All are effective treatment options but can vary in durability and cost. Our dentist will help you decide which treatment best suits your needs. Our patients usually prefer porcelain dental crowns as they offer a more natural look, especially if they are required towards the front of the mouth as the light can pass into and out of the crown far more like a natural tooth and there are far less obvious “dark lines” where the crown meets the gum line.

If you require a crown, Mitchell will need to reshape or remove the damaged section of dental enamel. An impression will then be taken of your affected tooth, so that the cap can be created by our laboratory.

While your crown is being made, a temporary crown will be fitted. This will be removed at your next appointment and the permanent crown will be cemented to your natural tooth. Your dentist will then advise you how to best care for your new dental restoration.
